Abstract:

The labour markets, which are structured within the framework of today's global capitalism, are far from providing young people the wage and working rights necessary for a humane life. Undoubtedly, the first attempts of the neo-liberal ideology to reduce costs by arguing the escalation of global competition, the rapid developments in technology and the necessity of increasing productivity are the main factors on this situation. However, the rapid increase in youth unemployment rates, based on the economic crises in the world and especially the last 2007-2008 crisis, brings non-standard work, which is expressed as flexible working style, to the agenda in order to solve youth unemployment in the market. All these developments put young people population in the position of working poor by confronting them with undecent jobs. There are ongoing debates around the world on how young people can access decent jobs. In this direction, some policies are suggested in the study to adapt the employment opportunities of young people.
