Abstract:

The aim of this study was to determine nursing students perception of social gender the effect of romantıc relationship on violence. The population of the descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 192 students who were enrolled in the nursing department of a foundation university in the Anatolian side of Istanbul in the 2017-2018 fall semester. In this study, 175 (61.1%) of the students were included in the study. The data were obtained with descriptive data collection form, the Flirt Violence Attitude Scale and the Gender Perception Scale. Kruskal-wallis, Anova test, independent t test, Man Whitney U test and Pearson correlation test were used to evaluate the data. 11.4% of the students in the study stated that they were exposed to violence during the flirting relationship and 6.3 % of them stated that they were violent in the flirting relationship. 7.4% of the students stated that they were subjected to domestic violence and 8.6% said that they were exposed to domestic violence in their family. The mean score of the students was 4.53 ± 0.96 and the mean score of the Social Gender Perception Scale was 69.93±10.8. There was no significant difference between the other variables (p<0,05), and there was a Flirt Violence Scale and mean scores of the students. As a result of the study, it is recommended to raise awareness about social gender perception and effect of on flirt violence during the education of the students.
