Abstract:

Passive smoking, which is a major public health problem, can begin in the uterus and can continue in childhood after birth. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 700 million children are exposed to cigarette smoke by 1.2 billion smokers, mostly at home. Passive smoking has negative effects on the general and oral health in children. The most common cause of systemic diseases are fetal malformation and developmental tension, sudden baby death syndrome, premature birth, reduction in the measurement of the head surrounding, middle ear infection, respiratory diseases, attention deficiency and hyperactivity disorder, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, childhood cancer, neurogenetic disorders. In oral and dental health, it has negative effects on the frequency of tooth fractures, peridontal diseases, delayed dental development, broken lips and swelling. This collection emphasizes that children's exposure to passive smoking is associated with these various systemic and dental problems. As a result of this aggregation, it is believed that early education of parents about passive smoking is important.
