Abstract:

The aim of this study is to combine the findings and results of the studies conducted in terms of the social studies course of the students participating in the education and training activities among the Syrian individuals who were forced to migrate to our country because of the conflicts that started in our neighboring country, Syria, and who were placed under temporary protection, in a single study and reach a general conclusion. In this research, studies on the perceptions and views of Syrian immigrant students taking social studies lessons (4th-5th-6th-7th grades), studies on perception and awareness of citizenship, and studies on the problems experienced by Syrian immigrant students were examined. Studies on the academic achievement level of Syrian immigrant students, the values and value teaching process of Syrian immigrant students, the perceptions and opinions of social studies teachers who have Syrian immigrant students in their classes, and the perceptions and views of Turkish students were examined. Studies serving similar fields in the research were combined under categories. The findings and results of the studies were combined under categories. As a result of the research, conclusions were drawn that will serve the integration of Syrian immigrant students, and essential issues that should be considered in this integration process are included. If we look at the research results in general, it is seen that the studies carried out in the integration process have positive results for the social studies course. It has been stated that the social studies course, which has a vital role in raising influential citizens, is effective in reintegrating Syrian immigrant students into society, the positive views of immigrant students towards the social studies course, and the factors that play an essential role in increasing the impact of social studies course objectives on immigrant students.
