Aim: The study was conducted to identify and assess final year nursing students’ expectation from a workplace. Methods: The research population is constituted by 16 universities’ final year nursing students in the dates between February-March 2013 while visiting these universities for career days. In the meantime the research sample is defined as 708 students who have accepted to fillout the survey. The data collection form is applied once the letter of permission received. In the analysis of research data, percentage, frequency and Cronbach’s alpha were used. Results: The rate of students who see nursing profession as a job guarantee is 25,9%, the students who chose the profession due to family willing is 19% and the students who choose the nursing in the sense of different profession is found 7%. Amongst the expectation of students who participated to the study in sequence; sharing fair wages, flexible working hours, a manager who approaches closely and concerns employees, ethical management, education programmes, instructive programmes, social activities/events, remote working, discount opportunities from the local shops were specifically defined. Conclusion: Considering nursing students’ expectation who constitutes generation y by nurse managers might be beneficial for decreasing the nurse turnover.
