This descriptive research is conducted to identify 20-year old and older women’s physical activity levels, their conviction about physical activity and exercise stages of change levels. The sample of the research consists of 218 women aged 20 or older who presented in some of the Family Health Centers in Ankara. The data were collected in accordance with International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ)-Short Form and Physical Activity Stages of Change Questionnaire. SPSS 11.0 Program was used to analyze the data. It was defined that the average age is 39.55, average body-mass index is 28.87, and most of them are housewife and have children. In the assessment made using IPAQ-Short Form 9.7 % of women do hard, 30.7 % do moderate and 56.6 % do light physical activity. According to their stages of change levels, 72.2% are at the level of not considering exercise, 17.7% is at thinking, 6% is at preparation level, 1.9% at action, %1,9 is continuation levels. Although they have positive conviction about the benefits of exercise, the considerable proportion of those not taking regular physical activity is associated with the high levels of their conception of impediment. Besides providing training to women about the benefits of physical activity, they are advised to follow the process of behavioral change.
