In this study, the effect and importance levels of instinct and extrinsic motivation factors on teachers motivation according to the place of living and working was investigated. The study levels of teachers motivation factors were conducted under the Herzbergs two factor theory. Opinion and satisfaction levels were measured as instinct factors. As extrinsic factors Adalar distrinct which is known as a Princes Islands including Kınalıada, Burgazada, Heybeliada and Büyükada in İstanbul and mainland (Güngören district in İstanbul) was handled. For mainland, Güngören was chosen because of the socio-economic similarity to Adalar. With this study, by making an evaluation in terms of instinct and extrinsic factors, it was thought to make a contribution to studies which aim to raise the motivation levels of the teachers. The study was conducted by 97 first stage primary school teachers who works in public schools in Güngören and Adalar districts as a sample. In the study instinct and extrinsic motivation factors of the teachers were analyzed by using İş Doyum Ölçeği (The measure of job satisfaction). Findings show that no meaningful significant difference was found about working in Adalar and Güngören districts. In terms of instinct and extrinsic motivation factors, in terms of extrinsic factors the motivation levels of teachers who work in Adalar district were found to be higher than those who work in Güngören district. When Adalar and Güngören districts are evaluated one by one instinct motivation level is observed to be higher both districts. In our findings, positive relation between instinct and extrinsic motivation factors is noticed.
