Abstract:

"Some biographies not only reflect the formation and development of the relevant persons or institutions, but also the historical and political development of the country. This situation also applies to the German Philology of the University of Istanbul” (Sean 2000: 105). Prof. Dr. Shara Mr. Istanbul University begins with these words in the article "Germanistik an der Universität Istanbul" to tell the story of German philosophy. In this article, we will try to translate the story of the German departments of the University of Istanbul, which we were first student, then a faculty member, and in 2008 until our retirement, from our own knowledge and experience. Here we are considering the branches of German Language Education and German Translation Anatomy, which contributed to the formation of German Language and Literature in accordance with the current developments. Our goal in doing this is to introduce the German departments of the Istanbul University, which are qualified as ecol within our field of expertise, with the main lines to the generations that come after us. In this framework, we aim to briefly present and evaluate the organizational conditions of the departments, the development process; the theory, methods and course contents that change over time; the faculty member and student profile that differs in this process; the formation and formation of new fields of expertise.
