Bir kitap koleksiyoneri ve kitapsever olarak bilinen Seyfettin Özege, 1961 yılında Atatürk Üniversitesi öğretim üyesi Niyazi Akı ile İstanbul’da görüşmesinden sonra yıllarca biriktirdiği binlerce yayını Atatürk Üniversitesi’ne bağışlama kararı almıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Özege’nin kütüphanesini Atatürk Üniversitesi’ne bağışlama kararı almasından sonra, Atatürk Üniversitesi’nin Özege ile yazışmalarıyla bağış sürecinin nasıl gerçekleştiğini ve sonrasında Üniversite’de bu kütüphaneye yönelik ne tür çalışmalar yapıldığını incelemektir. Belgelerin kapsamını çoğunlukla, Özege’nin bağış kararı ile birlikte öne sürdüğü koşulların yerine getirilmesine dair yapılan çalışmalara yönelik uygulamalar oluşturmaktadır. Birincil/orijinal bilgi kaynakları olan bu belgeler aracılığıyla, Seyfettin Özege Kütüphanesi’nin üniversiteye bağış süreci, kataloğunun hazırlanmasına yönelik çalışmalar ve bu kütüphanenin hizmete sunulması konularında bilgiler elde edilmiştir. Verilere kaynaklık eden belgelere/yazışmalara Atatürk Üniversitesi arşivinden ulaşılmıştır. Çalışmada doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Atatürk Üniversitesi’nin bağışlanan kütüphaneye yönelik olarak Özege’ye gönderdiği yazışmalar kronolojik olarak sıralanmış ve çalışmanın amacı ve kapsamı doğrultusunda uygun olanları değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın kapsamında bu süreçte Özege’nin üniversiteye gönderdiği mektuplar yer almamaktadır. Ulaşılan bulgular doğrultusunda bağışlanan kütüphaneye yönelik Atatürk Üniversitesi’nin ve kütüphanesinin bu süreçte koşullar doğrultusunda nasıl bir yol izlediği, kataloğun nasıl hazırlandığı ve kütüphanenin hizmete sunulabilmesi için neler yapıldığı ortaya konulmuştur.
Seyfettin Özege, known as a book collector and book lover, decided to donate thousands of publications that he had accumulated for years after meeting with Ataturk University faculty member Niyazi Akı in Istanbul. The purpose of this study is to examine how the donation process took place with the correspondence of Atatürk University with Özege and what kind of studies were carried out at the University after Atatürk decided to donate Özege's library to Atatürk University. The scope of the archival documents mostly consists of applications for the studies carried out to fulfill the conditions proposed by Özege with the donation decision. Through these documents, which are primary/original sources of information, information on the donation process of the Seyfettin Özege Library to the university, the studies for the preparation of its catalog and the launch of this library were obtained. Documents/correspondence that originated the data were obtained from the archive of the University of Athens. Document analysis method was used in the study. The correspondences sent by the University of Algeria to Algeria for the donated library are listed chronologically and the appropriate ones are evaluated in line with the purpose and scope of the study. The scope of the study does not include the letters sent by M.M. to the university in this process. In line with the findings reached, it has been revealed how Atatürk University and its library have taken a course in line with the conditions, how the catalog has been prepared and what has been done to put the library into service
