Abstract:

Batı kendini tarihsel anlamda Doğu’ya yönelik üstünlüğü üzerinden tanımlar. Batı’nın kökleri Rönesans’a kadar giden Aydınlanmayı yaşamış olması aydın kavramını da Batı’ya özgü kılar. Bu süreç Katolik Klisesi’nden kopuş ve sekülerleşmenin de başlangıcını tayin eder. Bu anlamda Batı’dan aşağı görülen Doğu’da (İslam inancının yoğun yaşandığı coğrafya) aydın olma çabası çelişkili bir durumdur çünkü Doğu, Batı ile aynı süreçlerden geçmemiştir. Kış Uykusu filmi ise Aydın adlı başkarakteri ile Batılılaşma çabası yüzyılı aşmış bir coğrafyada aydın olma halini Batı’nın Doğu’ya baktığı bir göz ile inşa eder. Aydın karakteri de kendi yaşadığı topluma kendisi de Doğu’ya ait olmasına karşın bir Batılı olarak bakar. Batılı olduğu yanılsamasına kapılır. Film tüm görsel-işitsel ayrıntılarında bu durumu ifşa etmek amacıyla inşa edilmiştir. Sinemamızın tiyatroya öykündüğü uzun yıllar başkarakterin eski bir tiyatrocu olması üzerinden, Türk Tiyatrosu’nun Tarihi’ne gönderme yapmaktadır. Metnimizin bir iddiası da yönetmenin de filmi tasarlayış biçiminin anlattığı başkarakterin yaşamına paralel olmasıdır. Böylece yönetmen kendisini de Doğu’da aydın olma halinin bir parçası haline getirmiştir, yönetmenin bir bakıma kendisini anlattığı iddia edilebilir. The West defines itself through its superiority to the East in the historical sense. The intellectual concept that the roots of the West have experienced in the Enlightenment which goes back to the Renaissance also makes it unique to the West. This process separates the Catholic Church and determines the beginning of secularization. In this sense, it is a contradictory effort to be an intellectual in the East (the geography where Islamic beliefs live intensely), which is seen down from the West, because the East has not gone through the same process as the West but Westernization struggle continues in this region for more than a century. Winter Sleep builds on a vision of the West, Aydın (Turkish intellectual and leading actors’s name) looks at his own society as a Westerner. He gets illusion that he is Western. The film was built to expose this situation in all audiovisual details and also for many years the story of Turkish Cinema has been emulating theatre, in relation to this situation the film refers to history of Turkish Theater through an old theatre actor who is contrived attitudes. One claim of our text is that the director created a film grammar parallel to what he tells. It can be argued that the director described himself as a part of the enlightenment in the East and talked about himself through film in a way.
