Abstract:

This study aims to identify and list the kinds of words that children between the ages of 4-6 are using in their natural speeches in the classroom. The purpose of these lists is to create a resource that teachers can apply to. This study has gained importance in terms of which words should be taught first in Turkish teaching to foreign children and helping teachers prepare materials. The work is structured by the situation work model. The study group consists of 45 children, who are mother-in-law Turkish between 4-6 years of age, registered in the kindergarten and approved Veli Onam Form. Prior to the study, the application was made to be able to do research in the 2019-2020 educational period and the Ethics Board of the University of İzmir Nine September Education Sciences Institute in Decision No. 10 of the Ethics Board of 05/11/2019 allowed the research to be done by declaring that the research is ethically appropriate. The data is obtained by non-participant observation technique. In this process, the natural speeches of children between the ages of 4-6 were gathered in the classroom with sound recording and observation forms. The time of audio recording for each age group is 120 minutes, and the total time is 360 minutes. In the process of data analysis, the audio recordings were first converted into circular and the use of the word types and numbers were determined from this circular. These lists are transferred to the Excel program by addressing the age variable. The lists obtained are thought to be a source of data in the preparation of material for children in the pre-school period who learn Turkish as a foreign language for teachers and will contribute to the vocabulary of children.
