Abstract:

Over the course of history, regional agricultural products have been of great importance in the lives of communities. The influence of its geographical location in Turkey and its climate characteristics have had a significant potential in the production of olive and olive oil. After the national struggle, the concept of independent economy was adopted in the establishment of the new state. The economy of the Republic of Turkey, which is based on agriculture, has been focused on the olive agriculture. For the purpose of developing olive vegetation and increasing the number of olive trees, new laws and regulations have been made, modern olive vegetation courses have been organized and these courses have been brought to specialists in the field of olive vegetation from abroad. Agriculture was of great importance in the economic policies of the Democratic Party (DP), which came to power in 1950. This study discussed olive farming in the economic policies of great importance in the 10 years of DP's power. Between 1950 and 1960, the production of olive and olive oil in Turkey, the work done to develop olive production, the results of these studies and the effects of olive production on the Turkey economy are the subject of the study. The study in which the effects of olive production and production on the economy are supported by numeric data has taken advantage of the TUIK data of the period (Turkey Statistical Bureau), the Ministry of Statistics Years, agriculture and economics magazines. In addition, the drawn laws regarding olive oil, the provisions of the law and official regulations in relation to the Prime Minister's Republic Archive, the Official Gazette, the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Zabıt Cerideles, the Laws and the Tutanak Magazines have been used.
