Anahtar kelımeler: Fetus, fetal büyüme, maternal faktörler Abstract The effective maternal factors for the fetal development It is stated that maternal factors such as maternal age, nutrition, obesity, and stress may have negative effects on fetal development in pregnancy. In this study, existing literature related to effects of maternal factors on fetal development has been reviewed. It is stated that maternal factors may effect mother's, as well as fetus', healt as a result of changing feto-maternal physiology in pregnancy. Relationships between maternal factors and low birth weight, intrauterine growth retardation, and spontaneous abortus were reported. On the other hand, maternal factors also associated with different kind of birth defect such as neural tube defects, oral cleft, cardiovascular, central neural, respiratory, and urinary system defects. Therefore further research is needed on effects of maternal factors on fetus. Key words: Fetus, fetal development, maternal factors
SuleymanDemirel University TIP FACULTY JOURNAL: June 2006; 13(2) Fetal growth affects maternal factors Kadir Desdicioğlu, M. Ali Malas Summary In pregnancy, maternal factors such as age, nutrition, obesity and stress may have negative effects on fetal growth. In our study we reviewed literature on the effects of these maternal factors on fetal growth. Maternal factors may also affect the fetus’ health as a result of fetus-maternal physiology that changes during pregnancy, along with the health of the mother. Relationships of maternal factors, low birth weight, intrauterine growth tension, spontaneous abortion and fetal mortality have been
