Social studies teachers are expected to have high level selfefficacy in the field of geography for effective teaching. In this study 54 social studies teachers’ perception about their self-efficacy in the field of geography were analyzed in the context of some variables. To collect data, Karadeniz’s (2005) “self-efficacy beliefs concerning the field of geography scale” was used. The scale includes 19 items in 3 sub-categories. According to the results, social studies teachers’ self-efficacy level in the field of geography is at a moderate level. Seniority and gender have no statistically meaningful effect on the teachers’ perception about the field of geography, but the teachers with undergraduate education in the field of geography enjoy a higher level of ability to use the knowledge of geography in daily life compared to the teachers with educational background in social study and history.
