This study aims to develop Social Support Expectation in Social Networks Scale, college students, and to conduct a validity and reliability study. The pilot study was conducted on 67 students, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) study was conducted on 462 college students and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted on 120 students. EFA and CFA methods were used to determine the construct validity of the scale. As a result of the EFA’s principal components techniques, a construct with fourteen items explaining a total of 59% of the total variance was attained. CFA revealed acceptable fit for the one-dimensional model (x2=237.78, sd=77, x2/sd=3.08, RMSEA=.13, GFI=.78, AGFI=.70, CFI=.94, IFI=.94, NFI=.91, RFI=.90, RMR=.06). Virtual Environment Loneliness Scale (VELS) was used to test the criterion validity of Social Support Expectation Scale in Social Networks. As a result of the analysis, it was found between scores a positive correlation with the social socialization and virtual sharing factor and a negative relationship with the virtual loneliness factor. The test-retest method, the split-half method, Cronbach Alpha and corrected item-total correlation were used to determine the reliability. After an interval of three weeks, a result of the test-retest correlation coefficient was found to be 0.85. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient calculated for the whole scale was found to be 0.95 for EFA, 0.93 for CFA. In another reliability study, 27% of bottom-top group comparisons revealed significant differences in all items. Finally, the item-total correlation analysis of the relationship was examined and found to vary between 0.59 and 0.81 for EFA, 0.54 and 0.79 for CFA. Based on these findings, we can say that the Social Support Expectation in Social Networks Scale can be used in the field of education and psychology and that it is a reliable and valid measurement tool.
