Abstract:

This study aims to study the cognitive structures of special skilled students related to climate change. In the research, scan methods of quantial research were used. The research work group consists of 84 special talented students studying at a Science and Arts Center in the Eastern Anadolu Region during the 2018-2019 educational period. In the study, the Word Relationship Test was used as a data collection tool. The study found that special skilled students repeated the words "climate change", "heating the air" and "life disappearance" most about the concept of climate change. When students studied the phrases they set for the concept of climate change, they found that they set the most phrases in the category of "non-scientific and surface information", and the number of phrases that contained conceptual errors was also quite high. From here it can be said that special skilled students have insufficient levels of knowledge about climate change and conceptual errors. The results of the findings were presented with the necessary recommendations.
