Abstract:

The purpose of the research is to study the learning styles of students who are studying in different kinds of secondary education institutions in Rize. The Marmara Learning Styles Scale, developed by Otrar (2006) in determining students’ learning styles and containing eight sub-dimensions, has also been used a form developed by researchers for demographic information. Applications were carried out in the 2006-2007 educational year. The sample of this research is formed by students who are studying in a ten different secondary education institutions selected through crowd sampling in Rize. The exam includes 828 (339 girls, 489 men) high school students aged 15 to 18. The study, in the context of data analysis, tested the differences between the illustrative analyses (f, %) as well as the independent group t test and one-way variance analysis (ANOVA), LSD techniques and groups. The study found that there were significant differences between social interaction, touchability, visuality, illumination, authority, hearing, and vibration in the lower dimensions of the school types. (b) There have been significant differences between gender groups for visual subdimensions. (c) There have been significant differences between students who repeat and do not do classes for the subdimensions of vision, authority, and hearing. Depending on the results obtained at the end of the study, some recommendations were made in terms of learning process and guidance.
