The purpose of this study is to call attention to foreign language anxiety and raise the awareness level of the target population in order to alleviate the effects of the anxiety. The survey method was used in the study and to gather the data, Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale was applied to 168 students during 2008-2009 academic year in İnönü University, School of Foreign Languages. The findings were presented in tables and the scores of the students were evaluated by the variables such as gender, age and compulsory or voluntary status of the students. According to the results, the variables such as gender and age were not significant statistically. The only variable which was found to be statistically significant was "compulsory or voluntary status" of the students. Anxiety level of compulsory preparatory school students was significantly higher than that of volunteer students.
