Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the serum biochemistry and full blood parameters in pyometric dogs and to identify the relationship between lactate dehydrogenase and these parameters. In the study, a total of 26 female dogs were used in different races between the ages of 6 and 14. The diagnosis of pyometric dogs (n=20) was made with anamnese, clinical and ultrasound examination. Dogs in the control group (n=6) were selected among the healthy animals >6 years old who were brought to the clinic for various reasons (genital examination, etc.). A blood sample from V. cephalica was taken from both groups of dogs in order to evaluate the full blood and serum biochemical parameters. The findings: in dogs in the Pyometra group, the WBC, neutrophils and monocytes were higher than the control group (p<0,05), and the RBC and lymphocytes were lower (p<0,05). In pyometric dogs, urine, ALP and LDH levels were higher and album values were lower (p<0,05). However, in closed cervical pyometric dogs, the result of full blood and serum biochemistry was found to be more affected than in open cervical pyometric dogs. Also, LDH levels were found quite higher than normal in both open and closed cervical pyometry dogs. With the level of LDH in pyometric dogs, a strong positive correlation between WBC, creatine, ALT, AST, ALP, CK (p<0,05) and the negative correlation between LDH and RBC and albumin (p>0,05) was determined. Recommendation: As a result, the number of WBCs and neutrophils in pyometric dogs has increased significantly, the kidney and liver functions are affected. It has also been determined that systemic problems are seen more serious in closed cervical pyometry dogs. However, because the LDH levels are in correlation with the kidney and liver enzymes, it has been found that the measurement of the LDH levels in pyometric dogs may be useful in determining the prognosis.
