İnsan ve çevre arasındaki etkileşim tarih boyunca farklı şekillerde kendini göstermiş ve farklı sonuçlar ortaya koymuştur. Doğal çevre koşulları insan yaşamını şekillendirirken insan yaşanan gelişmelerle doğal çevre üzerinde değişiklikler meydana getirmeye başlamıştır. Bu çalışmada küreselleşme sürecindeki dünyada insan mekân ilişkisi incelenirken insanların dağlık bölgelerdeki faaliyetleri üzerinde durulmaya çalışılmıştır. Son yıllarda artan insan faaliyetlerinin tehditleri nedeniyle düzeyde dağların korunmasına ve zengin dağ ekosistemlerinin sürdürülebilirliğine yönelik uluslararası çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Çalışmada özellikle zengin su kaynaklarına, doğal güzelliklere, hassas ekosisteme ve kendisine has kültürel bir dokuya sahip olan Rize Dağları’ndaki insan çevre etkileşimi incelenmiştir. Doğu Karadeniz Kalkınma Projesi (DOKAP) kapsamında bu bölgede gerçekleştirilen ulaşım ve turizm yatırımlarının, artan enerji ihtiyacı nedeniyle yapılan hidroelektrik santrallerin ve çalışmaları devam eden madencilik faaliyetlerinin Rize Dağları’ndaki etkileri üzerinde durulmuştur.
The interaction between man and the environment has manifested itself in different ways throughout history and has shown different results. As natural environmental conditions shape human life, the evolution of human life has begun to make changes in the natural environment. In this study, the human space relationship in the process of globalization in the world was studied while trying to focus on the activities of people in mountainous areas. In recent years, international studies have been conducted to protect the mountains at a level due to the threats of increasing human activity and to sustainability of the rich mountain ecosystems. The study studied the interaction of the human environment in the Rize Mountains, which has a rich water resource, natural beauty, delicate ecosystem and its own cultural tissue. The Eastern Black Sea Development Project (DOKAP) focuses on the effects of transport and tourism investments in this region, hydroelectric power plants made due to increased energy demand and the ongoing mining activities in the Rize Mountains.

In this study, while examining the human- geographic environment relationship in the world in the globalization process, it has been tried to focus on the activities of people in mountainous regions. Due to the increasing threats of human activities in recent years, international studies have been carried out for the protection of mountains and the sustainability of rich mountain ecosystems. In the study, the human-environment interaction in the Rize Mountains, which has especially rich water resources, natural beauties, sensitive ecosystem and a unique cultural texture, has been examined. Within the scope of the Eastern Black Sea Development Project (DOKAP), the effects of the transportation and tourism investments in this region, the hydroelectric power plants built due to the increasing energy demand and the ongoing mining activities on the Rize Mountains are emphasized.
