Abstract:

Sosyo-ekonomik gelişme; yapısal ve insani gelişme ile birlikte ekonomik büyümeyi ele alan süreçleri kapsamaktadır. Ülkelerin, bölgelerin ve illerin gelişmişlik düzeylerini araştırmak ve karşılaştırmak amacıyla yapılan bilimsel çalışmalarında sıklıkla demografik, sağlık, eğitim, kültür, gelir, istihdam, yoksulluk, yaşam kalitesi ve çevre gibi sıklıkla sosyo-ekonomik ve kültürel parametreler kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Ekonomik İşbirliği Örgütü (ECO) üyesi ülkeleri sosyo-ekonomik göstergelerine göre hiyerarşik kümeleme yöntemleri ile kümelere ayırmaktır. Uluslararası bir örgüt olan Ekonomik İşbirliği Teşkilatı (ECO), üye ülkelerin ekonomik süreçlerine katkı sağlamak maksadıyla 1985 yılında kurulmuştur. Sosyo-ekonomik göstergeleri itibariyle ECO’nun en gelişmiş ülkeleri Türkiye ve İran’dır. Afganistan ile Pakistan ise birçok sosyo-ekonomik göstergeler açısından benzerlik göstererek en az gelişmiş ülkeler kümesinde yer almışlardır.

Abstract:

Socio-economic development covers the processes that deal with economic growth along with structural and human development. Scientific studies aimed at researching and comparing the levels of development of countries, regions and provinces often use socio-economic and cultural parameters such as demographic, health, education, culture, income, employment, poverty, quality of life and the environment. The objective of this study is to divide the countries members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation (ECO) into groups by hierarchical accumulation methods according to their socio-economic indicators. The International Organization for Economic Cooperation (ECO) was founded in 1985 with the aim of contributing to the economic processes of the Member States. According to socio-economic indicators, the most advanced countries of ECO are Turkey and Iran. Afghanistan and Pakistan are among the least developed countries, with many similarities in terms of socio-economic indicators.

Socio-economic development involves the processes dealing with economic growth along with structural and human development. In research studies carried out in order to investigate and compare the development levels of countries, regions, and provinces, mostly, socio-economic and cultural parameters demographics, health, education, culture, income, employment, poverty, life quality and environment are used. The aim of the current study is to cluster the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member countries on the basis of their socio-economic indicators by using the hierarchical cluster analysis method. Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), an international organization, was established in 1985 to sustain the economic processes of the member countries. Depending on their socio-economic indicators, Turkey and Iran are the most developed countries of the ECO. As to Afghanistan and Pakistan, they fall into the cluster of least developed countries by sharing lots of similarities in terms of their socio-economic indicators.
