Abstract:

Purpose: In this study, it is intended to draw attention to the importance of psychiatric consultation requested by the Judicial Medical Clinic on the incidents exposed to different types of trauma, the presence and frequency of psychological influence associated with trauma in the incidents and the impact on the judicial report. Method and means: The data of 192 cases consulted to the psychiatric department from the cases sent for judicial report between June 2016 and September 2019 have been examined retrospectively. The psychiatric assessment of the events was carried out by psychiatrists according to the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-5) Results: In the study, 54 (28.1%) men and 138 (71.9%) women were evaluated in 192 cases. The average age of the cases was 39,44 (± 13,84) In 164 (85.4) cases, according to DSM-5 diagnosis criteria that meet a psychiatric disorder were determined. In 147 of 164 symptoms of a psychiatric disorder identified (89.6 percent), the physical effects of the trauma were "light in the measure that can be removed by simple medical intervention" although the mental effects of the trauma were also taken into account, the current injuries were "unlight in the measure that can be removed by simple medical intervention". When the relationship between gender and the type of incident was studied, it was determined that 76.6 percent of the shock act (n=118) was committed against women (p<0,05) Result: In this study, the findings of mental trauma have been revealed and it has been determined that it affects the result of the judicial report. The facts sent by the judicial authorities must be spiritually assessed and the findings of mental trauma must be indicated in the judicial reports. The multidisciplinary approach in trauma cases will ensure that a healthier trial is carried out.
