Abstract:

The aim of this research is to identify the perceptions of social information teachers towards globalization, global education and global citizenship concepts. The study’s work group is formed by teachers of social information working in different secondary schools connected to the Ministry of National Education located in the center of Antalya. Given the criteria of easy accessibility in the selection of schools, 17 men and 8 women from the teachers who work in these schools have formed a group of 25 social information teachers working on the basis of voluntary basis. In the study prepared as a qualitative research method, the conversation technique was used as a method of data collection, the data was analyzed with the visual analysis method. When the results of the study are evaluated in general, it is determined that social information teachers partially support globalization and integrate the concept of globalization with technology. In education, they often look positively on globalization; they have defined the concept of global citizenship as the person who follows the developments in the world. The idea that they tend to educate their students as a global citizen, that they look warmly to the provision of globalization education in the social information course, but that it is under the condition of the preservation of national values. For the preparation of domestic and foreign projects on the subject, teachers can be supported in various recommendations, such as the organization of seminars to teachers, the creation of newsletters supported by MEB.
