Abstract This article analyzes, from a social perspective, the causes and motives that triggered fights and confrontations in Zacatecas in the Eighteenth-century. It sees a relationship between trivial violence and gender configurations because the behavior of men was associated to masculinity feelings of that time. From a theoretical point of view, it makes a concise review of the main historiographical contributions of the topic. All of the above demonstrates that masculinity portrayed by men in Zacatecas was not different from other masculinities in New Spain.
