The purpose of the use of derivative products in financial markets is to transfer or manage the risk. In recent years, the financial sector has started to be widely used. In Turkey, the bank, which is the most important element of the financial system, has also increased the use of derivative products in fund management. Therefore, the identification of the factors that determine the use of derivative products has gained importance for the banking sector. The aim of the study in this direction is to determine which derivative market transactions the banks perform in Turkey are related to the financial and macroeconomic variables. The methods used in the study for this purpose are correlation analysis and ARDL limit test. The period examined in the analysis is 2005:1-2021:2 consisting of monthly data. According to the estimates made, the banks are increasing the use of derivative vehicles, especially as the active size increases, while the risk (financial risk and exchange rate risk) increases the use of derivative vehicles. On the other hand, as the use of derivative vehicles increases, the capital profitability of the banks also decreases. This may be the alternative cost of the invested capital.
