Amaç: Çalışmanın iki amacı vardır. Birinci amacı Türkiye’de 2023 yılı Ocak ayı itibarıyla faaliyet gösteren 20 şehir hastanesinin, misyon ve vizyon bildirimlerinin incelenmesidir. İkinci amacı şehir hastanelerinin misyon ve vizyon beyanatlarında hangi bileşenlere vurgu yapıldığının, hangi bileşenlere vurgu yapılmadığının tespit edilmesidir. Yöntem: Nitel bir araştırma deseni tercih edilen bu çalışmada veriler doküman olarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde ise içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmada şehir hastanelerinin misyon ve vizyon beyanlarında, en çok iki bileşene vurgu yapıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Buna göre misyonda en fazla atıf hizmet ve kurum felsefesine yapılmıştır. Vizyonda ise en fazla atıf performans ve amaç bileşenine olmuştur. İlaveten misyon beyanlarında en az vurgunun, yer/mevki bileşeni olduğu görülmüştür. Sonuç: İlk şehir hastanesinin 2017 yılında açılmasının ardından, Türkiye’de sağlık sistemi için yeni bir dönem başlamıştır. Sağlık yatırımları planlamasına göre güncel olarak yapımı devam eden 7 hastane ile birlikte sayılarının 36’ya ulaşması hedeflenen şehir hastaneleri, gerek sistemsel gerek yönetsel anlamda yeniliği ve iyileşmeyi gaye edinen bir projedir. Bu bağlamda stratejik olarak öncelikli adım misyon ve vizyon beyanatlarının doğru içeriği yansıtması olmalıdır. Nitekim bu durum, şehir hastanelerinin örgütsel kimliğine dolayısıyla örgütsel başarısına doğrudan tesir edecektir. Bu kapsamda hastanelerin hemen hemen hepsinin vizyon beyanlarını stratejik açıdan doğru formüle ettiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Diğer taraftan şehir hastanelerin misyon beyanlarında stratejik açıdan birtakım noksanlıklar olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Özgünlük: Makalede, daha önce ele alınmamış bir konu olan, şehir hastanelerin misyon ve vizyon ifadeleri üzerinde durulmuştur.
Purpose: There are two purposes of the research The first one is the examination of the mission and vision statements of 20 city hospitals operating in Turkey since January 2023. The second aim is to determine which mission and vision components of city hospitals are emphasized, and which are not. Method: In this study, which used a qualitative research design, the data were collected as documents. Content analysis was used to analyse the obtained data. Findings: In the study, it was determined that maximum two components were emphasized in the mission and vision statements of city hospitals. Accordingly, the most references in the mission were made to service and corporate philosophy. The most references related to vision were to the performance and purpose component. In addition, it was seen that the least emphasis was put on the place component in the mission statements. Implications: Following the opening of the first city hospital in 2017, a new era began for the health system in Turkey. City hospitals, whose number is aimed to reach 36 with 7 hospitals currently under construction according to health investment planning, is a project that has been intended for innovation and improvement in both systemic and managerial terms. In this context, the first strategic step should be to show the correct content of the mission and vision statements. Thus, this situation will have a direct impact on the organizational identity of city hospitals, which will end up with their organizational success. In this context, it was concluded that almost all of the hospitals formulated their vision statements srategically. Conversely, It was determined that there is some strategic deficiencies mission statements of city hospitals. Originality: The article focuses on the the mission and vision statements of city hospitals, which is a topic that has not been discussed before.
