Geçmişten günümüze değin etkin bir kitle iletişim aracı olarak kullanılan radyonun kamu hizmetlerini karşılamak, kültür ve eğitime yardımcı olmak, eğitim ve eğlence ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak gibi işlevleri vardır. Radyo tarafsız ve doğru yayın yaparak halka bilgi ve enformasyon akışı sağlar. Bilgi toplumuna geçiş sürecinde en önemli kurumların başında gelen üniversitelerin eğitimde de radyolar kullanılabilmektedir. Radyo toplumsallaştırma haber ve bilgi temin etme kamuoyunu inandırma ve harekete geçirme eğitim ve kültür düzeyine katkıda bulunma gibi işlevleri yerine getirmektedir. Radyo günümüzde de etkin bir propaganda aracı olarak kullanılabilmektedir. Gerçekleştirilen bu araştırmayla, öğrencilerin radyo dinleme alışkanlığıyla radyo dinleme bileşenleri arasındaki ilişkinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırma evrenini, İstanbul Medipol Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesinin farklı bölüm ve sınıflarında öğrenim gören 294 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma çerçevesinde yer alan öğrencilere çevrimiçi anket metoduyla ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada çerçevesinde seçilen öğrenciler kolayda örneklem tekniğiyle seçilmiştir. Öğrencilerin radyo dinleme alışkanlıklarının ölçümünde Singh (2013)’in geliştirdiği ölçek kullanılmıştır. Singh’in çalışmasında KMO değeri 0.714 iken bu çalışmada KMO değeri ise .815’dir. Dolayısıyla araştırma güvenirliği yüksek bir araştırmadır. Toplanan verilerin analizi SPSS programıyla analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma dâhilinde, araştırmaya ait beş hipotez testine ait veriler analiz edilerek bulgulara yönelik açıklamalar yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre, öğrencilerin radyonun işlevlerinden özellikle bilgi güncelleme ve farkındalık konusuna önem verdikleri görülmüştür.
The radio used as an effective medium of public communication from the past to the present has functions such as meeting public services, helping culture and education, meeting the needs of education and entertainment. Radio provides public information and information stream by making neutral and correct broadcasts. In the process of transition to the information society, radio can also be used in the education of the most important institutions of the university. Radio socialization performs functions such as convincing and activating the public to provide news and information and contributing to the educational and cultural level. Today, radio can be used as an effective propaganda tool. This study aims to identify the relationship between the student’s radio listening habit and the radio listening components. The research universe consists of 294 students studying in different departments and classes of the Istanbul Medipol University School of Communications. Students in the framework of the study have been reached through the online survey method. Students selected within the framework of the study are easily selected using sample technique. The scale developed by Singh (2013) has been used to measure students’ radio listening habits. In Singh’s study, KMO is 0.714, while in this study, KMO is .815. Therefore, research reliability is a high research. The analysis of the data collected was analyzed with the SPSS program. In the study, the data from the five hypothesis tests of the study were analyzed and the findings were explained. According to the findings obtained in the study, it has been shown that students pay attention to the functioning of the radio especially on the subject of information update and awareness.
The radio, which has been used as an effective mass communication tool from the past to the present, has the functions of providing public services, assisting culture and education, and meeting the needs of education and entertainment. Radio provides knowledge and information flow to the public by broadcasting impartially and accurately. Radios can also be used in the education of universities which are among the most important institutions in the process of transition to information society. Radio performs functions such as socialization, providing news and information, convincing and mobilizing the public, and contributing to the level of education and culture. Radio can still be used as an effective propaganda tool today. With this research, it is aimed to determine the relationship between the habits of radio listening of students and the components of radio listening. The population of the research is composed of 294 students studying in different departments and classes of the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul Medipol University. The students participating in the study were reached through an online survey method. The students selected within the framework of the research were selected through convenience sampling technique. The scale developed by Singh(2013)was employed to measure the habits of radio listening of the students. In Singh’s study KMO value was 0.714, whereas KMO value in this study was0.815. Therefore, the research is a highly reliable research. The analysis of the collected data was performed using the SPSS program. Within the scope of the study, the data of the five hypotheses tests of the research were analyzed, and the explanations were made directed to the findings. According to the findings obtained as a result of the study, it was observed that students give particular importance to the issues of information update and awareness among the functions of the radio.
