Araştırmada, ergenliğin ilk yılları olan ortaokul ve devamında lise öğrencilerinde görülebilecek sosyal görünüş kaygılarının, beden eğitimi dersine yönelik sürekli bir kaygı durumu geliştirmedeki etkisinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. İlişkisel araştırma modelinin kullanıldığı çalışmanın grubunu, Ankara ilinde çeşitli ortaokul Myaş= 11.99, SD=1.06 ve liselerde Myaş= 15.55, SD=.82 öğrenim gören 161 %57.5 kız, 119 %42.5 erkek olmak üzere, toplam 280 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri “Sosyal Görünüş Kaygısı Ölçeği-Ergen” ve “Beden Eğitimi Sürekli Kaygı Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, betimsel istatistikler ile korelasyon ve regresyon analizi teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada, her iki öğrenim kademesinde de öğrenim gören öğrencilerin sosyal görünüş kaygıları ile beden eğitimi dersi sürekli kaygılarının orta düzeyde olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca öğrencilerin sosyal görünüş kaygıları arttıkça, derse yönelik sürekli kaygı düzeylerinin de arttığı tespit edilmiştir. Ortaokul öğrencilerinde sosyal görünüş kaygısının beden eğitimi dersi sürekli kaygısı üzerinde orta düzeyde etki büyüklüğüne sahip olduğu; sosyal görünüş kaygısının, beden eğitimi dersi sürekli kaygı düzeylerindeki toplam varyansın %24’ünü açıkladığı görülmüştür. Lise öğrencilerinde ise sosyal görünüş kaygısının beden eğitimi dersi sürekli kaygısı üzerinde düşük düzeyde bir etki büyüklüğüne sahip olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
The aim of this study w as to investigate the effects of social appearance concerns in secondary and high school students on the development of a trait anxiety situation for physical education course. In this study relational research model w as used. The study group consisted of 280 students that educated in different secondary school Mage= 11.99, SD=1.06 and high school Mage= 15.55, SD=.82 in Ankara, 161 %57.5 of them w ere girls and 119 %42.5 of them were boys. “Social Appearance Anxiety ScaleAdolescent” and “Physical Education Trait Anxiety Scale“ w ere used as data collection tools. In the study, descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis w ere used. It w as observed that the students studying at both levels of education had a moderate level of anxiety both physical education course and their social appearance. In addition, as the social appearance anxiety of the students increased, the level of physical education trait anxiety increased. Social appearance anxiety in secondary school students has a medium effect size on trait anxiety tow ards physical education course It w as observed that social appearance anxiety explained 24% of total variance in trait anxiety levels in physical education course. In high school students, it is concluded that social appearance anxiety has a low effect size on trait anxiety tow ards physical education course
