There is a multidimensional relationship between work and conditions of life. The aim of this study is to determine the quality of work life and its subgroups of the physicians working in the health sector, and to evaluate the variables that affect their perception of quality of life. The study population of this crosssectional study is composed of 196 physicians, who were participating the basic course of reserve officer ship, in April 2009. The dependent variable of this study was “Quality of Work Life Scale” result. This scale consisted of below mentioned subgroups: “Safe and Healthy Working Conditions”, “Opportunities of Skill Development and Usage”, “Continuous Development and Improvement Opportunities”, “Organization of Social Integration”, “Organizational Laws”, “Work and Personal Life”, and “Adequate and Fair Pricing”. While evaluating the quality of life score, status of the physician's specialty, performance status, academic title, whether or not having an administrative task, the number of patients per day, and the duration of working as a physician was taken into account. The most positively considered features were found to be “Organizational Laws”, and “Opportunities of Skill Development and Usage" while the most negatively considered feature was found to be “Adequate and Fair Pricing”. Positive responses were obtained from general practitioners in terms of Organizational Laws, and from specialists in terms of Continuous Development and Improvement Opportunities and this data were statistically significant. Negative correlation was found between scores of number of daily examined patients, social integration to the organization. In conclusion, the thought of unfair and inadequate pricing of the physicians and the high number of daily examined patients have negative effects on the quality of life score of physicians so these factors should be taken into consideration by the policy makers
