Educational assessment is carried out to evaluate the comprehension and skills of the students. Classroom assessment is an essential part of educational assessment. The present study aimed at exploring current classroom assessment practices, formats, tools, and their role at the secondary level in Pakistan. All students and teachers of Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEIs’) in the Rawalpindi region were included in the population. A total of 300 participants (150 teachers and 150 students) were selected as a sample of the study using a convenient sampling technique. The survey method was deployed under the positivist paradigm. A research questionnaire was developed by the researchers to collect data, which consisted of 30 items. Data analysis was done using SPSS(21.0). The study concluded that classroom assessment practices helped the teachers and students to improve the quality of the teaching-learning process. It was recommended the teachers should be provided with further training regarding modern assessment formats and tools.
