Özet:

Abstract This study aims to discover the methodologies and the focuses of scientific researches which are about urban social movements in Turkey. Within this purpose the graduate theses that were completed in the universities in Turkey were examined with content and discourse analysis. Because of the access block 29 of 34 theses were deeply analyzed. The studies were accumulated on sociology, city and regional planning and political science and public administration departments. %74 of the studies were produced in the universities of Ankara and Istanbul. 86% of them applied qualitative research methods; and %79 of them examined movements in Istanbul. Activist-researcher identity contributed the evaluation of methodological approaches. Furthermore, it has been determined which crises were encountered in the (re) production of the space and in which time period. This paper illustrates that the studies are divided into two periods as 2003-2011 and 2013-2019 in the context of the subjects they focus on. It has been concluded that the concept of “the right to the city” and the Gezi Resistance are determinative in this distinction. As a final discussion, it was evaluated how daily life were discussed in the context of urban social movements in the theses examined.
