Özet:

Currently, aesthetics of the anterior teeth is a significant issue in general dentistry and the most frequently cited reason for patients seeking orthodontic treatment. For many years, linguistic orthodontics was perceived as complex and problematic treatment procedures and therefore not widely used internationally. However, during the last decade, the percentage of patients treated with linguistic orthodontics has increased, appliance systems have renewed, and the technique has developed to such a extent that in some cases, it is easier, faster, and more accurate than traditional buccal orthodontics. The aim of this review is to evaluate and generally consider the use of linguistic orthodontics which are commonly preferred by patients in routine orthodontic procedures and look through current applications. Additionally, special considerations regarding the contemporary diagnosis and treatment planning in linguistic orthodontics are presented in this study. Today, the aesthetic layout and appearance of the front teeth has become an important topic in general dentistry and this importance has become the first cause in the preference of lingual orthodontics for patients. Lingual orthodontics has been recognized for many years as complex and difficult to apply for therapeutic methods, and has not found a widespread use in the international field. But in recent periods, the percentage of patients treated through this method has increased, the devices applied in cases have been renewed, the treatments have been facilitated, accelerated and successes achieved with traditional orthodontic therapies have begun to be achieved every day. The purpose of this collection is to evaluate this practice that more and more patients prefer every day in orthodontics and to give an overview of current practices. The current examination and treatment plans in linguistic orthodontic practices will also be discussed in this study. Keywords: Lingual orthodontics, current applications
