Özet:

This article presents an analysis of the monograph El amor: la gran oportunidad (2011) and its German translation Liebe: die grosse Chance (2016) by psychiatrist Enrique Rojas. This hybrid text belongs to the genre of popular science and essay. The translator G. Stein uses aesthetic language and a formal register, whereas the original text contains the author's lectures and clinical cases and highlights the concept of love with erudition and a digressive speech. The stylistic difference between the original work and the target text is emphasised. The application of Nord's functionalist methodology solves many translation decisions in the target text. By means of a comparative procedure, some translation problems and solutions are presented. The predominant rhetorical feature of love metaphors and other literary figures are identified; lexical aspects are considered and various elements of cultural interest of this millenary concept are indicated.
