Türk tarihi genellikle savaşlarla anılsa da tarihinde büyük diplomatik başarılar da mevcuttur. Bunlardan birisi de Lozan Barış Konferansı denilebilir. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluş belgesi olan Lozan Barış Antlaşması geçmişten günümüze tartışılan bir konudur. Anakronizme düşmeden değerlendirilmesi gereken bir konu olan Lozan Görüşmeleri dönemin şartları düşünüldüğünde olumlu düşünülmesi gereken bir mesele olabilir. Çalışmanın amacı da sorunsalı dönemin şartlarında inceleyerek merkez-çevre dikotomisi içerisinde değerlendirilmek. Çalışmada büyük devletlerin emperyal hedefleri çerçevesinde Lozan’ın kazanımları anlatıldı. Konuyu basit biçimde zafer-kayıp şeklinde okumanın bilimsel olamayacağına vurgu yapıldı. Konferansta iki zıt kutup çatışmıştır. Lord Curzon Mondros’tan gelindiği şeklinde Türk tarafına baskı yaparken, İsmet Paşa Mudanya’dan gelindiğini işlemiştir. İki tarafta tezlerini savunurken galip devletler olduklarını karşı tarafa kabul ettirmeye çalışmıştır. İki tarafta savaş yorgunuydu ancak uzun yıllar pek çok cephede savaşmış Türk halkının tekrar savaşmaya gücü yoktu. Buna rağmen İsmet Paşa’nın Lozan’da Türkiye’nin çıkarlarını elinden geldiğince iyi savunduğu söylenebilir. Zira konferansta İsmet Paşa birçok delegede saygınlık uyandırmayı başarmıştır. Makalenin bir diğer konusu ise kaybedilişi hâlâ tartışmalara konu olan Musul meselesidir. Musul’un kaybedilişinin sanıldığı gibi Lozan’da olmadığı özellikle vurgulanan konuların başındadır. Zira Türk heyeti Lozan’da Musul’daki haklarını son ana kadar savunmuştur. Musul çok daha sonra elden çıkmıştır. Türkiye Musul konusunun Cemiyeti Akvam’da görüşülmemesi için de mücadele etmiştir çünkü o dönemde İngiltere’nin örgütte etkinliği vardı.
The Turkish history is often referred to as wars, but there are also great diplomatic successes in history. One of these can be called the Lozan Peace Conference. The Lozan Peace Treaty, the establishment certificate of the Republic of Turkey, is a topic discussed from the past to the present day. The Lozan Talks, which is a subject to be assessed without the fall of anacronism, may be a matter to be considered positively when considering the conditions of the period. The purpose of the study is to be examined in the conditions of the problematic period and assessed within the center-environment dicotomy. The study described Lozan's achievements in the framework of the imperial goals of the great states. It was emphasized that reading the subject in a simple form of victory-loss cannot be scientific. There were two conflicts in the conference. The Lord Curzon Mondros made the pressure on the Turkish side as it came from, and Ismet Pasha Mudanya made it from. He tried to accept the opposite side of the victories while defending their theses. The war was tired on both sides, but the Turkish people, who fought on many fronts for many years, had no power to fight again. However, it can be said that Ismet Pasha in Lozan defends the interests of Turkey as well as he can. At the Zira conference, Mr. Pasha succeeded in raising respect in many delegates. Another topic of the article is the issue of the loss which is still the subject of discussion. The loss of Mosul, as it is believed, is at the forefront of the especially emphasized issues that are not in Lozan. The Zira Turkish delegation has defended its rights in Mosul in Lozan until the last time. Mosul went out a long time later. Turkey was also struggling to not be discussed in the Assembly of Mosul in Akvam because in that time Britain had an activity in the organization.
Although the decisive factor in Turkish history is usually wars, there are also great diplomatic achievements in its history. One of these achievements is the Lausanne Peace Conference. The Lausanne Peace Treaty, which is accepted as the document that provides the foundation of the Ankara Government, is a subject that has been discussed from the past to the present. The Talks in Lausanne, which is an issue that should be evaluated without falling into anachronism, may be an issue that should be considered positively when the conditions of the period are considered. The aim of this study is to examine the problematic in the conditions of the period and to evaluate it within the center-periphery dichotomy. The achievements of Lausanne were explained within the framework of the imperial goals of the great powers, and it was emphasized that it would not be scientific to read the subject simply as victory-loss. Two opposing poles struggled at the conference. While Lord Curzon was putting pressure on the Turkish side under Mudros, İsmet Pasha stated that he came from Mudanya. While defending their thoughts on both sides, they tried to make the other side accept that they were victorious states. Both sides were tired of war; however, the Turkish people, who had fought on many fronts for many years, did not have the strength to fight again. Despite this situation, it can be stated that İsmet Pasha defended Turkey's interests in Lausanne as best as he could. İsmet Pasha managed to arouse prestige in many delegates at the conference. Another subject of the article is the Mosul issue, whose disappearance is still the subject of debate. It is one of the most emphasized issues that the loss of Mosul was not in Lausanne as it was thought. The Turkish delegation defended its rights in Mosul until the last moment in Lausanne. Mosul was lost much later. Turkey also struggled to prevent the Mosul issue from being discussed in the League of Nations; because at that time England had an influence in this organization.
