Abstract:

Football at a competitive level has been the target of a lot of interest among young people, therefore, nutritional assessment is essential to ensure adequate dietary monitoring and adjustments that focus essentially on the athlete's health and his success on the field. The present study aims to assess the nutritional status and food consumption of adolescent football players in the field of a sports club in the city of Recife-PE. A study was carried out with 18 male athletes of the Sub-13 category at the Nutrition Clinic at Sport Clube do Recife-PE. Anthropometric measures were collected to estimate caloric needs and assess nutritional status, %GC and MMkg, and two R24h were also applied to analyze the intake of macronutrients, dietary fibers and micronutrients (iron and calcium). It was found that 27.78% of the athletes are overweight through the parameter BMI/I, and also the %GC of 20.19±3.34%, with 9 athletes classified as moderately high, and presented a lean mass of 41,99±5.19kg. The athletes also showed an energy deficit between the intake of 1,901.6±419.28kcal and the caloric needs, 2.767.5±278.94kcal, the insufficient consumption of carbohydrates (54.55±3.89%) and lipids (23,45±4.14%) and excess protein consumption, which was 1.97±0.56g/kg/day. Finally, there was a low intake of dietary fiber (18.77±5.77g) and calcium (670.56±316.56mg) and excess iron (16.75±4.23mg). In this context, the importance of nutritional intervention with a focus on the health and performance of athletes in the field is also emphasized, as is the necessary dietary education aimed at healthy eating practices that perpetuate throughout life.
