Amaç: Bu çalışma, Kars Devlet Hastanesinde yatan hastalarda umutsuzluk ve sosyal destek düzeyi ve bunları etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı türde planlandı. Yöntem: Araştırmanın örneklemini çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden ve Ekim 2005-Şubat 2006 tarihleri arasında Kars Devlet Hastanesinin dahili ve cerrahi kliniklerinde yatan 93 hasta oluşturmuştur. Veriler hastaların bireysel özelliklerini, tanı ve tedavi sürecine ilişkin bilgileri içeren anket formu, Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği ve Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği ile elde edilerek SPSS programında değerlendirildi. İstatistiksel değerlendirme yüzde, ortalama ± standart sapma, Student’s t, Mann Whitney-U Test, Kruskal Wallis ve Pearson Correlation testleri ile yapıldı. Bulgular: Hastaların Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği puan ortalaması 8.76 ± 5.10; Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği puan ortalamaları ise 53.49 ± 21.31’dir. Medeni durumun, eğitim ve çalışma durumunun, çocuk sayısının, eşlik eden hastalığa sahip olma durumunun umutsuzluk puanı ile; ekonomik durumun ve yatılan kliniğin algılanan sosyal destek puanı ile ilişkili olduğu bulundu. Yaş, hastalık ve yatış süresi arttıkça umutsuzluğun arttığı; hastalık süresi arttıkça algılanan sosyal desteğin azaldığı; sosyal destek azaldıkça umutsuzluğun arttığı görüldü. Sonuç: Eğitim seviyesinin düşük, ekonomik durumun kötü, çocuk sayısının fazla olması umutsuzluk puanını arttırmaktadır. Ekonomik durumun iyi olması algılanan sosyal desteği arttırmaktadır. Yaşın artması ile umutsuzluk puanının arttığı; hastalık ve yatış süresi arttıkça umutsuzluğun arttığı; hastalık süresi arttıkça algılanan sosyal destek puanının azaldığı; umutsuzluk arttıkça algılanan sosyal destek puanının azaldığı görülmektedir
Purpose: This study was planned to identify the level of disappointment and social support in patients in the Kars State Hospital and the factors affecting them. Method: The sample of the study was formed by 93 patients who agreed to participate in the study and found in the internal and surgical clinics of the Kars State Hospital between October 2005 and February 2006. The data was evaluated in the SPSS program by obtaining the survey form containing information about the individual characteristics of patients, the diagnosis and treatment process, the Beck Despair Scale and the Detected Social Support Scale. The statistical assessment was made with the percentage, average ± standard deviation, Student's t, Mann Whitney-U Test, Kruskal Wallis and Pearson Correlation tests. Results: Patients' Beck Disappointment Score score average is 8.76 ± 5.10; Social Support Score score average is 53.49 ± 21.31. The state of civilisation, the state of education and work, the number of children, the state of disappointment of having the accompanying disease, the economic state and the social support point of the hospitalized clinic were found to be related. The age, the disease and the resting period increased, the disappointment increased, the social support was reduced, the social support was reduced, and the disappointment increased. The result: the low level of education, the poor economic situation, the excess of children increase the disappointment score. The social support that is considered to be good is increasing. The age increases and the point of disappointment increases; the disappointment increases with the age of illness and residence; the social support point decreases with the age of illness; the social support point decreases with the age of disappointment.
