The connection between cinema and photography is much more intense and strong than the relations of other branches of art with each other. It is even possible to rely on the foundation of the cinema, the techniques and developments in the photographic field. From here, for both media, it can be spoken of a common language that contains objects such as perspective, composition, depth and reality. French, film critic and theorist Andre Bazin developed the concept of Field Deep Theory in the cinema, starting from the reality phenomenon. The area depth applied as spatial depth represents the clear area left in front and behind the focus point. The depth of the field is also one of the technical elements of the photo. In this study, the depth of the field applied in the cinema will be influenced by the aesthetic size that the film has gained by supporting the images created by photographic images and the story of the film. Nuri Bilge Ceylan, who successfully translates his habits from the photographic history to the cinema, is one of the important representatives of the minimal cinema in the Turkish cinema. Ceylan, with his experience and ability in photography, successfully establishes the balance of clarity of the area in front, middle and background in the photographic images he creates in his films in accordance with Basin's Theory of Field Deepness. Nuri Bilge Ceylan's film "Long" is one of the remarkable films that illustrate this theory. In the framework of this study, the film The Director's Distance will be studied in Basin's theoretical perspective, both cinematographic and photographic.
