Additive manufacturing or orther words 3D printing has been widely used for every sector over the last two decades with development of rapid prototyping technology. In particular, it has contributed significantly to the sectors where material and design issues, especially space and aviation, are used and developed effectively. Additive manufacturing technology to the health field; It has benefited considerably in terms of personal implantation, anatomic model studies and tissue engineering before surgery. Within the framework of technological developments, a material which is preferred in accordance with 3D printing and includes shape memory; 4B printing technology has been obtained with the change of form, feature or function. The most important feature of the 4D printing processes includes the time-dependence, independence of 3D printing machine, the final shape produced and the design of self-assembly products. The ability to produce complex designs presented by 3D printing and the adaptation of shape-shifting or shape-memory materials to the tissue or organ over time and taking the desired shape will be one of the most important developments in the biomedical field in the next century. In this study, the basis of 4B printing technology is investigated and firstly the properties of this technology are examined for understanding of using areas. However, the usage areas of the shape memory materials are explained and these materials have been introduced which is used current applications in the biomedical field.
