Abstract:

When the studies on the brain and learning are evaluated, it is obvious that the structure of the brain, its functioning and factors that may affect the teaching process should be taken into account while preparing the instructional material for the development of the skills. When the development processes and sub-skills of writing skills are considered, the necessity of focusing on the sentence and paragraph writing skills emerges for teaching which is suitable for the learning structure of the brain and educational principles. It can be said that proceeding to the text-writing process after teaching sub-skills will allow for better permanent learning. In this study, the relevant literature was reviewed, and sources were synthesized by focusing on sentence and paragraph writing skills. Materials to be prepared were organised under the sub-headings of "determining the purpose, literature review, weekly implementation plan and developing content, designing the rubric, consulting the experts, conducting the pilot study and implementation, and giving feedback to the participants". Considering the main steps of skill development, an implementation template was created as an example for the development of these skills. It is considered that the sentence and paragraph writing skills of secondary school students will improve when the steps and the contents in this study are followed.
