The study suggests the identification and date of the statue dressed on the top of St. Paul in the ancient city of Ephesus and displayed in the Museum of Ephesus. Toga can only be dressed by individuals with the privilege of Roman citizenship and is a dress made from the Republican period to the end of the late Ancient Age. The type of dress that the Ephesos Togo statue wears is the beginning of the Augustus Period. This type, starting from the Augustus period, retains its popularity in the clothing repertoire with little changes in its shape until the end of the 2nd century. The work is defined as a senator because of the calceus senatorius boat he was wearing on his foot. The architectural context of the unknown statue dress is suggested by dating from the umbo, balteus, sinus, lacinia, ima toga sections, labor, stylistic characteristics and similar examples of the period. For the purpose of awarding the work to the Romanian sculpture literature, accordingly, the definition, type and style analysis, iconographic evaluation and date recommendations are made.

In this study, a definition and dating proposal is made for statue dressed in toga which was found on St. Paul hill in the ancient city of Ephesos and it is exhibiting in the Ephesus Museum now. Toga could only be worn by Roman citizens. Toga is a dress that was worn from the Republican Period to the end of the Late Antiquity. The form of the dress was changed more than once from the Republic Period to the Late Antiquity. The type beginning of the dress of the Ephesos toga sculpture is dated to the Augustus Period. Despite of minor changes in dress form, it remained popular in the garment repertoire until the end of the 2nd century AD. Because of the calceus senatorius shoe, the statue identified as a senator. Although the architectural find context of the statue is not known, it is suggested to date it based on the dress sections. The dress sections are umbo, balteus, sinus, lacinia and ima toga. In addition to the dress sections, workmanship, stylistic features and similar examples of the period are used for dating. Here, it is aimed to bring the work to the Roman Period sculpture literature. For this reason, definition, type and style analysis, iconographic evaluation and dating are made respectively.
