Abstract:

Criminal novels in which social and individual reality is transmitted to the readers under the crime fiction are divided into subtypes as police novels, detective novels and black novels. The La presidenta, which was discussed in the study by Alicia Giménez Bartlett, a leading writer of Spanish police literature, is typically considered a postmodern detective novel that challenged the traditions of traditional detective stories by combining elements such as supernatural, intertext and nonlinear narrative structures. The detective sisters Berta and Marta Miralles, who come to us as a curious character, have been observed to make the work attractive with their own research methods and their professional views. There are other features other than the classic detective novels. The characters of Berta and Marta are withdrawn from the investigation file and hesitate to continue their professions, and thus come to the forefront as a figure with their defects in the role of a detective who does not make any mistakes. All of this reinforces the characteristics of the work’s realism and conviction. The work, which is the subject of the study, provides data that enables the contemporary Spanish society to be addressed from different perspectives. The aim of this study is to keep the perspective of the contemporary Spanish society to the woman as it is presented in the work and to identify the characteristics of detective novels far from the usual line within the framework of postmodern literary theory.
