In this study, some of the chemical, physical and morphological properties of Ficus carica trees that grow in Aydin and Kahramanmaraş have been identified. The results were compared with the T-Test analysis. From chemical properties, cholosellulose, α-cellulose, lignine, alcohol-benzen solubility, hot water solubility, cold water solubility, 1% NaOH solubility and the amount of dirt have been detected. These values were 72.20%, 38.47, 22.71, 1.00, 8.42, 7.43, 19.62, 3.13 and K.Maraş, respectively, and 64.43, 41.78, 16.18, 7.92, 16.60, 15.47, 24.53 and 3.70 per cent. There is no statistical difference between the examples of the two cities in terms of physical features. According to this, the average air dry intensity of the ink wood (D12) is 0. 73 g/cm3, full dry intensity (Do) 0.61 g/cm3, volume intensity value (R) 0.54 g/cm3, fiber saturation point (LDN) 21.88, maximum rubber content (MMC) 118.88, volume reduction amount (βv) 11.63 % and volume expansion value (αv) 22.89 % were identified. The lif length, the fiber width, the fiber thickness and the lumen diameter were in average 0.83 mm, 22.05 μm, 5.44 μm, 16.05 μm and 0.88 mm, 20.44 μm, 3.86 μm, 16.58 μm, respectively.
In this study, chemical, physical and morphological properties of fig (Ficus carica) wood obtained from Aydın and Kahramanmaraş (Turkey) provinces were determined. The obtained data were compared with t-test analysis. Chemical features like holocellulose, α-cellulose, lignin, alcohol-benzene solubility, hot-cold water and 1% NaOH solubilities and ash content were determined. The results of samples, taken from Aydın were 72.20%, 38.47%, 22.71%, 1.00%, 8.42%, 7.43%, 19.62%, 3.13% and for K.Maraş samples 64.43%, 41.78%, 16.18%, 7.92%, 16.60%, 15.47%, 24.53% and 3.70%, respectively. For the physical properties, no statistical difference was found between the samples. According to the result, air density was found (D12) 0.73 g/cm3, oven dry density (Do) 0.61 g/cm3, basic density (R) 0.54 g/cm3, fiber saturation point (LDN) %21.88, maximum moisture content (MMC) %118.88, volumetric shrinkage (βv) %11.63 and volumetric swelling (αv) as %22.89. Fiber length, fiber diameter, cell wall thickness and lumen diameter were found to be 0.83 mm, 22.05 µm, 5.44 µm, 16.05 µm, respectively in fig wood from Aydın and 0.88 mm, 20.44 µm, 3.86 µm, 16.58 µm in K.Maraş samples, respectively.
