Purpose: Comparing both hemiplegic and solid side femoral scratch and quadriseps muscle thickness in infection patients using ultrasound (USG) and studying the relationship between these measurements and functional parameters. Tools and Methods: This study included 65 patients followed as a result of infection. The thickness of the femoral scratch and quadriseps muscle [rektus femoris (RF)+vastus intermedius (VI)] in each two knees was measured by USG; Brunnstrom and Fugl-Meyer tests were used for engine assessment. The functional assessment used the Barthel Index (BI) and the Functional Ambulation Classification (FAS). The findings: the femoral scalp thickness values in the medial, interkondal and lateral areas were not significantly different between the solid and hemiplegic sides. The value of RF+VI was significantly lower on the hemiplegic side than on the solid side (p<0,05). There were significant positive correlations between the RF+VI value and the BI and FAS scores. Result: The measurement of the femoral thickness in infection patients did not make significant differences between the hemiplegic side and the solid side, while the quadriseps muscle thickness measurements were significantly lower on the hemiplegic side compared to the solid side. Quadriseps muscle thickness values can affect the functional condition in patients.
