Kütahya’da Geçmişten Günümüze Doğum Âdetleri: Bir Gelenek Olarak Doğu Yatağı

Aile ve toplum açısından büyük bir öneme sahip olan doğum, hayatın geçiş evrelerinden ilkini oluşturur. Aileye yeni bir bireyin katılmasının verdiği sevinç, heyecan, ona gelecek olan zarardan korkma, kaçınma beraberinde pek çok ritüeli de birlikte getirmektedir. Anadolu’nun farklı bölgelerinde doğum öncesi, esnası ve sonrasına dair uygulamalar bulunmaktadır. Eski bir Anadolu şehri olan Kütahya’da da doğuma dair pek çok pratik halen uygulanmaktadır. Osmanlı Devleti zamanında şehzadeler şehri olan Kütahya, saray kültürünün verdiği ihtişamı yöresel kültür ile harmanlayarak günümüze kadar ulaştırmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı teknolojik gelişmelere ve modernleşmeye rağmen geleneksel dokusuna dair unsurları korumaya çalışan şehrin doğuma dair pratiklerini ve bu pratikler içerisinde önemli bir yeri olan doğu yatağına dair uygulamaları, yaşatıldığı bağlam içerisinde kayıt altına almaktır. Bu çalışma, Dumlupınar Üniversitesi Bilimsel Araştırma Merkezi (BAP) tarafından desteklenen “Geçmişten Günümüze Kütahya’nın Doğum-Düğün ve Ölüm Âdetleri” adlı proje kapsamında yapılmıştır. Karşılıklı görüşme ve gözlem yönteminin kullanıldığı çalışmada şehrin merkezinde yaşayan ve halkın “yerli” tabiri ile ifade ettiği ailelerin bilgisine başvurulmuştur.

Abstract:

Birth, which is of great importance in the family and society, is the first of the transitional stages of life. The joy, the excitement, the fear of the damage to the family, and the avoidance, bring many rituals together. There are practices in the various regions of Anatolia regarding pre-born, pre-born and afterborn. In Kütahya, an ancient Anadolu city, many practices on birth are still being applied. By the time of the Ottoman State, Kütahya, a city of towns, has brought the glory of the palace culture to the present day by combining with local culture. The aim of the study is to record the practice of the city’s birth, which, despite technological developments and modernization, is trying to preserve the elements of its traditional fabric, and the practice of the Eastern bed, which is an important place in these practices, in the context in which it is lived. This study was carried out within the framework of the project "The Birth-Wedding and Death Ages of Kütahya from the past to the present" supported by the University of Dumlupınar Scientific Research Center (BAP). The study used the method of mutual conversation and observation was applied to the information of the families living in the city center and expressed by the people with the "local" character.

Having a great importance in terms of family and society, birth is the first of the transition stages of life. The joy of joining a new individual to the family, excitement, fear and avoidance of harm bring about many rituals. There are practices before, during and after birth in different regions of Anatolia. In Kütahya, an ancient Anatolian city, many practices regarding birth are still being practiced. The aim of the study is to record the birth practices of the city, which tries to preserve the elements of its traditional texture despite technological developments and modernization, and the practices of the birth bed, which has an important place in these practices, in the context in which it is kept alive. This study was carried out within the scope of the project named "Birth-Wedding and Death Customs of Kütahya from Past to Present" supported by Dumlupınar University Scientific Research Center (BAP). In the study in which interview and observation method was used, the knowledge of families living in the city center and referred by the public as "native" was used.
