Abstract:

This article introduces and evaluates the German academic studies on the hadith and Sunnah, which are noted in Germany and other Western countries, one of the leading countries in Orientalist studies in the West. The article is made up of two parts. In the first part of the subject, the introduction to the subject provides brief information about the history of the academic studies on the event in Germany. The method of Ignaz Goldziher, which is considered to be very influential on Western Orientalists, in his works and works is important in this regard. By referring to the approaches of the Muslims to the hadith and Sunnah, the subtitles in which the publications are related are shown in the table. In the second part, which forms the main body of the article, the publications are chronologically mentioned in the form of books, theses, encyclopedial materials, reports presented in the symposium and seminars and other studies. In order to ensure that the volume of the article is not increasing further, that the works can be chronologically traced and read easily, the information and assessments about the works are placed in the text, not in the dipnotes.
