The World Health Organization declared on January 30, 2020, that the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a respiratory disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, is one of the biggest public health emergencies of international concern. Because of its high infectious nature, by April 9, 2020, this virus had spread to five continents, and approximately 2,936,916 people had died. The rate of the virus, which is becoming more common in the world, is increasing among pregnant women. The physiological structure of the pregnancy period reduces the defense of women against viral infections and suppresses the immune system. It is known that pregnant women have an increased risk of morbidity and mortality regarding other respiratory tract infections, such as influenza, during this period. Accordingly, pregnant women are considered a risk group for COVID-19. Therefore, in this review, the management of COVID-19 during pregnancy and childbirth is discussed in line with the guidelines published by national and international organizations and the relevant literature.
