Abstract:

Purpose: cervical disk artroplasty is aimed at preserving movement at the surgical level while minimizing degenerative disease at neighboring levels. In this study, the long-term functional results of patients with cervical disc pathology operated with artroplasty technique were studied. Method: 68 patients were involved in the study with cervical disk protection implantation due to disc hernia or spondylosis. Functional results in time were evaluated at the beginning and after 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 4 years and 7 years using the NDI and visual analog scale (VAS). Results: Average tracking time is 5.4 ± 1.8 years (the average, 7 y; December, 1-7 y). The final follow-up VAS and NDI scores were significantly lower (respectively 1.2±0.9-7.7±1.2, p<0.001 and 5.5±5.0-40.4±5. 8 and p<0.001. VAS and NDI scores have been improved at all time points measured (p<0.001 for all comparisons). For VAS and NDI scores, a plateau was achieved every 2 years and 1 year respectively. The surgical success rate was 86.8 per cent. The findings of this study support the benefits of cervical dynamic disc systems in cervical disc surgery in terms of both short-term and long-term functional results after surgery.
