Bu çalışmada, 4-6 yaş resimli öykü kitaplarındaki içerik ve resimleme özelliklerinin yeterliliği açısından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, nicel araştırma türlerinden betimsel tarama modeli olarak tasarlanmıştır. Çalışmanın evrenini 4-6 yaş grubu resimli öykü kitapları, örneklemini çocuk kütüphanelerinde yer alan 200 adet resimli öykü kitabı oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Resimli Öykü Kitaplarını Değerlendirme Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada resimli öykü kitaplarında bulunması gereken resimleme özelliklerinde 6 madde yeterli, 1 madde kısmen yeterli içerik özelliklerinde ise 11 madde yeterli, 3 madde kısmen yeterli düzeyde olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. İncelenen resimli öykü kitaplarında resimleme özellikleri açısından sınırlı sayıda resimlerin estetik değer taşıdığı görülmektedir. İçerik özelliklerinde ise sınırlı sayıda çocuğun özdeşim kurabileceği karakterler, yaratıcılık ve sözcük dağarcığını geliştirmenin yer aldığı görülmektedir. İncelenen resimli öykü kitaplarında yetersiz olarak bulunan hiçbir özellik yer almadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda incelenen 200 adet resimli öykü kitabının 176 tanesi yeterli, 24 tanesi kısmen yeterli olarak bulunmuştur. Yetersiz hiçbir kitap bulunmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Resimli öykü kitaplarının estetik değer taşımasının, kitaplarda özdeşim kurulabilecek karakterlere yer verilmesinin, çocukların yaratıcılığını desteklemesinin ve sözcük dağarcığını zenginleştirmesinin çocukların gelişiminde kritik bir öneme sahip olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu bağlamda resimli öykü kitaplarını tasarlayan kişiler bu özellikleri barındıran kitaplar oluşturmaya özen göstermelidir. Literatürde resimli çocuk kitaplarının hem resim hem de içerik ögelerini inceleyen çalışmaların sınırlı sayıda olduğu bilinmektedir. Bu nedenle yapılan çalışmada resimli öykü kitapları resimleme ve içerik özellikleri açısından incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın nicelik ve nitelik bakımından literatüre katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
The aim of this study is to examine the adequacy of content and illustration features in picture storybooks for children aged 4 to 6. The study was designed as a descriptive survey model, which is a quantitative research type. The population of the study consists of picture storybooks for children aged 4 to 6, and the sample consists of 200 picture storybooks available in children's libraries. The data collection instrument used in the study is the Evaluation Scale for Picture Storybooks. In the study, it was concluded that there are 6 items of sufficient illustration features and 1 item of partially sufficient illustration features; and 11 items of sufficient content features and 3 items of partially sufficient content features. It is observed that a limited number of illustrations in the examined picture storybooks carry aesthetic value. In terms of content features, it is observed that a limited number of characters that children can identify with, creativity, and vocabulary development are present. It was found that no inadequate feature was present in the examined picture storybooks. As a result of the study, out of the 200 examined picture storybooks, 176 were found to be sufficient and 24 were found to be partially sufficient. It was concluded that there were no inadequate books. It is believed that the aesthetic value of picture storybooks, the inclusion of characters with whom children can identify in the books, supporting children's creativity, and enriching their vocabulary hold critical importance in their development. In this context, individuals designing picture storybooks should strive to create books that incorporate these features. It is known that there are limited studies that examine both the illustration and content elements of children's picture books in the literature. Therefore, in this study, picture storybooks were examined in terms of illustration and content features. It is thought that the study will contribute to the literature in terms of both quantity and quality.
