Koronavirüs Salgınının Psikolojik Yansımaları ve Salgınla Başa Çıkma

Abstract:

Bu araştırma amacı Koronavirüsün psikolojik yansımalarını ve salgınla başa çıkmanın nasıl gerçekleştiğini incelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda keşfedici sıralı karma yöntem kullanılarak iki ayrı çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma 1’de Koronavirüs olgusunun nasıl deneyimlendiğini ve günlük yaşamdaki psikolojik yansımalarını keşfetmek ve açıklamak amacıyla Fenomenolojik desen tercih edilmiştir. Çalışmanın verileri çevrimiçi odak grup görüşmesi ve katılımcılara internet üzerinden gönderilen açık uçlu sorular aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Çalışmaya 14’ü kadın, 16’sı erkek olmak üzere 30 kişi (Yaş x ̅=37,5) katılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre Koronavirüs salgını deneyimi ve salgının psikolojik yansımaları Korona Gerçeğiyle Tanışma-Farklı Bir Deneyim, Yaşam Tarzının Değişmesi-Koronalı Günler, Koronavirüs Korkusuyla Başa Çıkma ve Salgın Sonrası Gelişim temalarında açıklanmıştır. Koronavirüs salgını nedeniyle insanların sosyal hayatı, yakın ilişkileri, ekonomik hayatı olumsuz yönde etkilenmiş, yaşam rutinleri değişmiştir. Salgın riski insanlarda korku, kaygı, öfke gibi duyguları tetiklemiştir. Salgın korkusuyla başetmek için katılımcıların bilişsel, aşkın, ilişkisel ve davranışsal başetme stratejilerine başvurdukları anlaşılmıştır. Ayrıca Koronavirüs salgınının katılımcıların hayatında olumlu gelişmelere de yol açtığı görülmüştür. Çalışma 2’de ise Salgınla Başa Çıkma Ölçeği’nin (SBÇÖ) geliştirilmesi ve psikometrik özelliklerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma 2’in katılımcıları 484 kişiden (Yaş x ̅=27,8) oluşmaktadır. Çalışma 1’de ortaya çıkan Salgınla Başa Çıkma teması ve literatürden hareketle ölçek maddeleri yazılmış ve uzman görüşleri de alınarak geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışmaları yapılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda Salgınla Başa Çıkma Ölçeği’nin geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu görülmüştür. Cinsiyet değişkeni açısından bulgular incelendiğinde, kadınların SBÇÖ’nün bilişsel ve aşkın başa çıkma alt boyut puanları ve Koronavirüs Korkusu Ölçeği puanları erkeklere kıyasla anlamlı düzeyde yüksek bulunmuştur. Ayrıca Koronavirüs korkusu yüksek olan katılımcıların düşük olanlara göre bilişsel, aşkın ve ilişkisel başa çıkma puanlarının daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışmanın, Koronavirüs olgusunun insan hayatındaki psikolojik yansımalarının daha iyi anlaşılmasına, salgınla başa çıkma sürecinde yetkililere, ruh sağlığı çalışanlarına ve araştırmacılara önemli katkılar sunacağı beklenmektedir.

Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the psychological reflections of the coronavirus and how to deal with the epidemic. For this purpose, two separate studies were conducted using the detective orderly karma method. In study 1, the phenomenological pattern was preferred to explore and explain how the coronavirus phenomenon is experienced and its psychological reflections in everyday life. The data of the study was collected through online-focused group interviews and open-end questions sent to the participants via the internet. The study included 14 women, 16 men and 30 people (age x < 37,5). According to the results of the study, the coronavirus epidemic experience and the psychological reflections of the epidemic have been explained in the topics of Confrontation with the Coronate Truth-A Different Experience, Change of Lifestyle-Coronate Days, Confrontation with the Coronavirus Fear and Post-Inflammatory Development. As a result of the coronavirus epidemic, people’s social life, close relationships, economic life have been negatively affected, their life routines have changed. Influential risk has triggered emotions such as fear, anxiety, anger in people. It is understood that participants applied to cognitive, love, relationship and behavioral tactics to cope with inflamed fear. The coronavirus epidemic has also been shown to lead to positive developments in the lives of the participants. In the study 2, the aim is to develop the scale of dealing with the bullying and to study its psychometric characteristics. The participants in the study 2 consist of 484 people (age x =27.8). The study 1 has been drawn up with the subject of the issue and the scale material from the literature and the expert opinion has been taken into account and validity and reliability studies have been carried out. The results of the analysis have shown that the exhaust measurement is a valid and reliable measurement tool. When the findings were studied in terms of gender variation, women's CBS's cognitive and love-dealing sub-dimensional scores and coronavirus fear scores were significantly higher compared to men. It has also been shown that participants with a high coronavirus fear have a higher percentage of cognitive, love and relationships than those with a lower percentage. As a result, this study is expected to contribute significantly to the better understanding of the psychological reflections of the coronavirus phenomenon in human life, and to authorities, mental health workers and researchers in the process of dealing with the epidemic.

The purpose of this study is to examine the psychological reflections on the coronavirus and how individuals coped with the epidemic. This research was carried out using the exploratory sequential mixed method where qualitative and quantitative patterns were used consecutively. In Study 1, phenomenological design was preferred in order to discover and explain how coronavirus phenomenon is experienced by individuals and its psychological reflections on their daily life. The data of the study were collected through an online focus group interview and open-ended questions sent to the participants via Internet. Study 1 included 30 participants (x ̅=37,5), 14 females and 16 males. According to the results of the research, the coronavirus epidemic experience and the psychological reflections of the epidemic are explained in the themes of Meeting the Reality of the Coronavirüs- A Different Experience, Changing the Style of Life in Corona Days, Coping with Coronavirus Fear, and Post-Epidemic Growth. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, social life, close relationships, and economic life of people have been adversely affected, and their life routines have changed. The risk of epidemics triggered individuals’ emotions such as fear, anxiety, boredom, and anger. It was revealed that the participants used cognitive, transcendental, relational, and behavioral coping strategies to deal with the fear of pandemic. It has also been observed that the coronavirus pandemic has led to positive progress in participants’ lives such as self-awareness, self-development, positive relationship and a calm/regular life. In Study 2, it is aimed to develop the Coping with the Outbreak Scale and to examine its psychometric properties. Study 2 included 484 participants (x ̅=27,8). Based on the literature searches and the Pandemic Coping theme emerged in Study 1, the scale items were written, and validity and reliability were started by getting expert viewpoints. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the Coping with the Outbreak Scale was a valid and reliable measurement tool. When findings of the study were analyzed in terms of gender variable, the cognitive coping and transcendental coping sub-dimensions and Fear of Covid-19 Scale scores of women were found to be significantly higher compared to men. In addition, it was observed that the participants with higher coronavirus fear had higher cognitive, transcendental, and relational coping scores compared to the participants with low coronavirus fear. In conclusion, this study had aimed to support better understanding of how coronavirus phenomenon is experienced by individuals and its psychological reflections on their daily life. It is also expected that this study will provide significant contribution to authorities, scientists, and mental health professionals in the process of dealing with the epidemic.
