Abstract:

Aim: This research was conducted to determine the attitudes of pregnant women towards sexuality during pregnancy and the factors affecting it. Material and Method: The sample of the descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 405 pregnant women who applied to the obstetrics and gynecology polyclinic of a branch hospital in Istanbul between 1 October and 31 December 2021, who were 18 years of age and above and could communicate in Turkish. The research data were obtained by using the descriptive form and the Attitude Scale toward Sexuality during Pregnancy (AStSdP). Results: It was determined that 71.9% of the pregnant woman did not receive information from health professionals about sexual life during pregnancy. The total mean score of the AStSdP of pregnant women was found to be 90.11 ± 10.21. Pregnant women's education level, receiving information about sexuality, having a risky situation during pregnancy, experiencing changes in the number of sexual intercourses during pregnancy, and being satisfied with their sexual lives during pregnancy affect their attitudes towards sexuality during pregnancy (p<0.001). (p<0.001). Conclusion: It is recommended to inform pregnant women about sexual life during pregnancy and provide counseling services to reduce their negative attitudes towards sexual life.
